Getting on the Waiting List

At Basset Acres we don't have forms to fill out. It starts with an email telling me a bit about yourselves and arranging a time to chat. Lets make sure I am the right breeder for you and you are the right home for one of our puppies.

Breeding Time

Once our momma to be is in season you will get an update email. We will give you the anticipated due date and then we wait. Around a month after breeding there is an ultrasound to confim we have puppies on the way! Moms belly will start to grow and we try to keep things quiet around here. Midnight pee breaks and a lot of belly rubs and snacks are all part of the momma dog experience. Last update before their arrival is an x-ray to check litter size and puppy size. This is just a few days before their due date.

Puppies are FINALLY Here

Things are hectic as we stay with puppies the first two weeks to help mom and do our best to make sure everyone is thriving. I send an birth annoucement out once we are all settled. Weekly puppy updates will be the highlight of the week with photos and information. I also try to send out a link to our live stream cameras. During this time I send out important dates, information on food and puppy supplies, as well as, training tips to get things started. Our puppies are all introduced to potty pans and then the doggy door during their first 8 weeks here. They will have a good start on the potty training. Our puppies are raised with a lot of enrichment to help them develop proper social skills.

Picking Puppies and Heading Home

At 8 weeks of age we do some temperment testing and stacked conformation photos of the puppies. Show/Sport and breeding prospects are carefully selected from the litter. Then we share photos and information about each puppy with our loving pet homes. This is a bit tricky for me to organize families who want to meet the puppies in person and pick them up and then there are families that are too far away and we have to help them pick their puppy and arrange transportation. It is a busy and exciting time

Information About Our Puppies

Our puppies are all CKC registered, have 30 days free pet insurance, a 2 year health guarantee against genetic disease. are microchipped, vet checked, first vaccinations and lifetime breeder support. Our parents are health tested and the litters are carefully planned. Our puppies are $3500 +gst and if sold as a pet puppy have a spay and neuter contract.
